GIS for Social Workers

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) refers to a variety of tools that allow you to create visual maps of socioeconomic data.  Social Workers have used GIS software to assess the needs of communities. For example, social workers have used GIS mapping tools to look at services for pregnant adolescents.  BC’s own data librarian has created an excellent guide to using GIS for social work research.
